Some lighting sales departments often receive inquiries from customers for LED strip lights, but because they are not familiar with the specifications and terms of LED light strips, it often takes a long time to explain to customers before they can understand. In response to this phenomenon, the following is an explanation and sharing of the 5 commonly used specification terms for LED strip lights, and also for the reference of purchasing friends:


1. The size of the LED strip light


2835, 2110, 3528, 5050 refer to the size of the light-emitting element used on the LED strip light, the following is a detailed introduction of these specifications:

2835: It means that the length of the LED component is 2.8mm and the width is 3.5mm.

2110: It means that the length of the LED component is 2.1mm and the width is 1.0mm

3528: It means that the length of the LED component is 3.5mm and the width is 2.8mm

5050: It means that the length of the LED component is 5.0mm and the width is 5.0mm


2. The number of lights in the LED strip light


30 lights, 60 lights, and 120 lights refer to how many LED components are welded per meter length of the LED strip light. The most popular ones on the market before are 3528 60 lights, 12 lights; and 5050 60 lights. With the development of technology, 2835 is becoming more and more popular because of its high cost performance. Different styles are available, such as 30/60/120/128/160/192/240 lights and so on. High density and no dark areas are increasingly becoming a choice for high-end people.

The price of LED strip lights with different LED quantities is different, which is also an important factor to distinguish the price of LED strip lights.


3. The color temperature of the LED strip light


It refers to heating a standard black body. When the temperature rises to a certain level, the color starts to change from deep red to light red to orange to white to blue, and gradually changes. When the color of a certain light source is the same as that of the black body, we call the absolute temperature of the black body the color temperature of the light source.

Generally speaking, color temperature is not used as an indicator for evaluating LED strip lights, but many foreign customers will make a special requirement due to the use environment.

The color temperature of the light source is different, and the light color is also different:

The color temperature is below 3300K, and the light color is reddish to give a warm feeling. It has a stable atmosphere and a warm feeling. And it is commonly known as warm color temperature.

The color temperature is in the middle of 3000-6000K, and people have no particularly obvious visual psychological effects in this hue, and there is a refreshing feeling, so it is called "neutral" color temperature.

The color temperature exceeds 6000K, and the light color is bluish, which giving people a unapproachable feeling, commonly known as cool color temperature.


4. The brightness of the LED strip light


cd (candela), the basic unit of luminous intensity, candela is one of the basic units of the International System of Units.

Generally, different colors of LED strip lights have different luminous intensities, and the common unit is mcd, which is millicandela. The higher the value, the greater the luminous intensity.

This is an important indicator for evaluating the brightness of LED strip lights. The higher the brightness requirements, the more expensive the strips. This is because high-brightness LED chips are more expensive, and the higher the brightness, the greater the difficulty of packaging.


5. The luminous angle of the LED lamp with storage


This refers to the light-emitting angle of the LED components on the LED strip light. Generally, the light-emitting angle of the general-purpose SMD LED is 120 degrees.

The larger the light-emitting angle, the better the astigmatism effect, but the relative brightness of the light is also reduced. The light-emitting angle is small, the intensity of the light is up, while the range of illumination will be reduced. Therefore, another important indicator for evaluating LED strip lights is the luminous angle.

Nowadays, there are some bad manufacturers on the market. In order to increase the brightness of the light and make higher profits, they deliberately reduce the angle of light. If you are not careful, you will buy such shoddy components.
