Structural Analysis of LED Strip Lights

The structure of LED strip lights is divided into the following two types:


One is the ordinary type, that is, the series-parallel circuit structure; the other is the combined type, that is, the structure used by the magic light bar, which contains integrated circuits and timing control circuits.


The following will use commonly used LED strip lights to explain the related issues about LED light strip lights:


1. What materials are LED strip lights made of?


LED strip lights are composed of FPC, LED, chip resistors, waterproof silicone, connecting terminals and other materials.


2. What is the circuit structure of the LED strip lights?


The circuit structure of the common LED strip light is a series-parallel circuit. Most of the LED strip light wholesale products provided to us are 12V power supply LED strip lights, that is, three LEDs and a chip resistor are connected in series to form a group of circuits; Each LED strip light is composed of 10 components of circuits in parallel.


The advantages of designing the circuit structure in this way are:


A. The use of resistor divider can effectively ensure that the LED works under the specified rated voltage, and the service life of the LED will not be shortened because the input voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the LED.


B. Parallel shunt can effectively reduce the impact of the input rated current on each group of LEDs through the parallel circuit, so that the LEDs can be stabilized within a current range, thereby greatly improving the service life of the LEDs.


C. Parallel constant voltage, because each group of LEDs is a parallel structure, therefore, any cutting of one group will not affect the normal use of other groups, which can effectively save installation costs and will not cause waste.


3. What is the physical structure of the LED strip lights?


According to the width, there are 4 kinds of LED strip lights, including 6mm/8mm/10mm/12mm, and according to the LED size, there are 6 kinds of 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 5050, and 5060. So what is the physical structure of each LED strip light? Similarly, the conventional LED strip lights (led5050 220v flexible strips) of LED strip lights we provide are examples to illustrate their physical structure.


Since the LED light strip needs to be divided according to the specific light strip length, number of LEDs and cutting position, no matter what kind of LED light strip it is, the arrangement of its physical structure is calculated according to the following formula:


(LED strip light length - cutting position width x cutting number) / LED number = LED spacing.


Number of LEDs/3=Number of chip resistors


4. What is the width and spacing of the LED strip light pads determined?


The width and spacing of the pads of the LED strip light is determined according to the LED size specification used. If it is 0603 specification, the pad width is determined according to the ratio of 0603; if it is 0805, 1206, 1210 and other specifications, the pad width can be 0805 or 1206, and the specific size can be determined according to the power of the LED strip light and the power shared by the resistor; the width of the LED strip lights of 5050 and 5060 must conform to 1206. Because the 5050 and 5060 specifications of the LED strip lights have relatively high power, there are requirements for the size of the pad and the power of the resistor.
